ARMOUR - $150 Upper / $130 Lower

UPPER ARMOUR TEMPLATE 100% SCALE - click here!

The upper armour can be purchased from GT, the quality is exactly what you'd expect from them, highly glossed fibreglass, not too heavy, although you may want to find some way of securing it into position (rather than just hanging it!). The piece comes with an updated screw-bolt assembly (left pic) this is much better than the original velcro option, but make sure you don't tighten the bolts too much - IMPORTANT!. You will also notice that the shoulder bells will rattle off the chest piece, just add a little trooper trim to the inside edge of the shoulder bell (right pic), this completely eliminates the noise! - Below Pictures...

The armour needs to be reall polished for the best effect, the trim that you added will also make sure that the pieces do not scratch each other, you can see from these pics that the finish on the armour matches the high-waxed Vader helmet - Below Pictures...

The shin armour is also fibreglass and is to the same quality as the above armour, the shins connect via two buckled straps.

VINYL PAINTING - $10 Complete HH

At VaderMaker we want to give you as many options for your Vader costume as possible, we know that some of you don't have the funds or don't want to risk painting your armour, this is fair comment, especially if you intend to wear it, we know that the paint will scratch and peel over time. We searched for another method of acheiving the (ESB & ROTJ) painted effect, and here is the final result...

First buy some 'AGFA' tach-vinyl, you will find it mainly at sign making suppliers, select the shade you need and make sure whatever shade you pick that you buy the gloss version, we opted for 'Grey .8 - Dark'. Start by using card to create a template of the individual sections, then continue this to the vinyl, start cutting - Below Pictures...

Take your time and start adding the vinyl to the armour, best to start from the bottom front, making sure you press the vinyl down hard every few centimetres, use glass cleaner to make the job easier - Below Pictures...

Once each section is added, leave the armour for approx 30 minutes to settle, when you return to it, there may be a few air bubbles, simply use a towel and push each bubble to the edge (using some strength), they will remove easily, finally polish the entire assembly and re-attach the shoulders, the result is fantastic and only $10 - Below Pictures...

We look constantly for new ideas and tips for you, to help you create the best Vader costume that is possible, please consider making a few of your pieces, you will feel a great amount of pride AND you will save a lot of money, mail us if you have any ideas!

SHIN ARMOUR TIP - $5 H

The shin armour being fibreglass has sharp edges, even when sanded they are still severe, we discovered that when wearing the costume that the shins would mark the boots, in severe circumstances even cut or tear the boots above the ankle, to resolve this get some of the trooper trim and araldite it to the bottom of the shins, it looks good, is secure and means that your boots are 'never' going to be marked or damaged by the armour! - Below Pictures...
