VADER BELT - $30 complete stars2.gif (222 bytes)

FULL BELT INSTRUCTION WITH PICTURES - click here!

BELT TEMPLATE 100% SCALE - click here!

The belt is a prop that will differ from country to country, mainly due to the fact that the parts that are available here in the UK, may not be in the US or any other country, let's make a start...

First you are going to need 2 Boxes to hold the circuitry, we also used a smaller box for the buckle, these boxes were purchased from an electronics store, they are called circuit testing boxes. Take the larger boxes and drill six even holes at each outer end, then screw the capped nuts into the holes (see right pic), then drill the red LED hole and slot a basic LED into position. You need to cut 2 square sections out completely and glue a half section of the hose underneath these (again see right pic), the outer boxes are ready for the green covers - Below Pictures...

The buckle is created with 2 sheets of ABS, cut the outer shape and completely cover it in 'chrome' tape (or paint), then cut a circular piece and do the same, glue them together, then attach them to the buckle box using velcro, this gives a very 3D quality to the buckle - Below Pictures...

The electronics are a little harder to explain (we suggest downloading the instructions at the top of this page), first you have your red LED, you will also need another clear LED, make a small retaining box for the clear one, and mount it into it, cover the inside with chrome tape, this LED alone will light both green boxes. Attach an on/off rocker switch to the outside of each box, now connect them in a daisy chain to a battery holder (Use a 2 x 1.8v holder as this will give a much higher amount of continuous power), squeeze everything into the boxes and then screw the back shut. This belt system gives out over 14 hours of continuous use - Below Pictures...

Buy a good quality belt and attach everything securely, remember that the actual belt buckle is of no importance as it will be at the rear when secured and no-one will be able to see it - Below Pictures...

Due to popular requests, here is a close-up picture of the green boxes and the saber clip we have used, note the trooper trim round the edges of the green boxes, this really cleans up the entire area, the clip can be purchased from any good DIY store - Below Picture...
