C/A VADER MASK - $120 + $10 Mods stars2.gif (222 bytes)

FULL HELMET INSTRUCTION WITH PICTURES - click here!

CORRECT 'ROTJ' COLOUR SCHEME - click here!

VADER HELMET REVEALED - click here!

This helmet is the Don Post Classic Action and can be purchased from Galaxy Trading (see links section), the first thing you notice is it has no back to the neck, it has plastic sensors and grill, and the lenses are very misty, they need replaced.
The sensors need to be replaced with GT (Galaxy Trading) versions, they simply screw in, then add some proper metal grill from VUK (Vader UK), then add some beautiful Acrylic lenses from Bob Bean (VaderPainter), they come oversized, you just sand them down - Below Pictures...

You may find that you cannot turn your head very well with the helmet on, so cut approx 0.8" off the lower section - Below Pictures...

The air circulation inside the helmet is poor so add 2 mini fans, here you can see the positioning of them and also the on/off switch, finally remember to cut a large square section out of the foam to let the air flow towards the face, replacing the foam is also a good idea - Below Pictures...

The neck piece is made from Industrial Guttering (large), take a section of this and bake it in a hot oven for approx 5 minutes, then take it out and quickly re-shape it to the rear of your neck (use a wet towel), when hard, add some rubber trim to the top and bottom, this makes sure that the piece does not cut into you. Add chrome door latches, these ones were purchased from a DIY store - Below Pictures...

The helmet is now complete and ready to wear, you simply leave one side of the catches un-bolted, so that you can slip it on then re-attach the catches, as you can see from this pic, the wearer's neck is not visible at all from the rear - Below Picture...

WOW!, you've made your C/A helmet look like the real thing, I suggest for those of you who will just have this as a prop to paint it by someone like VaderPainter, but if you intend to wear it regularly, like at shows, conventions etc., I suggest simply 'High-Waxing' the entire helmet, these two pictures show the completed article fully waxed - Below Pictures...

UPDATED GRILL - $16 Complete stars3.gif (221 bytes)
The orignal grill was not bad, but we decided that it could be improved, firstly purchase two large speaker grills of different sized mesh and place them on top of each other to see if they work together - Below Pictures...

grill1GO.gif (26452 bytes) grill2GO.gif (23006 bytes)

Next cut out the required diamond shape from both grills, then bend the grill edges together, now take some chrome 'duct' tape and cover the bottom section of the grills, this will give the lower mouth section the chrome look as in the movie - Below Pictures...

grill3GO.gif (22483 bytes) grill4GO.gif (23869 bytes)

Now cut a triangular section of card and cover with black 'duct' tape, insert this into bottom section, then pierce holes into the chrome tape and neaten everything up, the grill is now complete, simply hot-glue into position for the perfect finish! - Below Pictures...

Brett Futral's - Classic Action Helmet...
Now here is a very shiny C/A owned by Brett Futral, he has used 'Armor-All' protectant on his mask, see the high gloss shine that is visible on the dome, Brett says that this protectant allows for a high degree of handling, great work Brett!, see more of Brett's costume on the fan-suits section!  - Below Picture...
